Histograms
Histograms show the distribution of a single selected variable as a bar graph. Histograms can be accessed from two locations:
-
Main toolbar
To access the histogram selection dialog, click the Histogram button on the main Troubleshooter toolbar. -
Preparation view
To access view a histogram for a specific field, click the Histogram icon next to the field name on the Visualization view.
View multiple histograms
NOTE: For multiple histograms, each histogram is displayed in its own view.
-
Click the histogram button on the main toolbar, or
-
Click the Multiple Histogram button on the preparation view.
-
A field selection dialog is displayed
-
Select the variable(s) to add and click on the add (>) button to add the field to the selection.
-
Remove variable(s) by selecting the a field and click on the remove (<) button.
-
To add all variables to the selection, click on the add all (>>) button.
-
To remove all variables from the selection, click on the remove all (<<) button.
-
Click Ok once the selection has been made.
-
A Histogram view for each selected variable is displayed
Histogram options
-
Min: Set the minimum by entering the numerical value of the minimum in the Min field. If the entered minimum is greater than the default minimum, then the outer-most bin will change to an alternate color. The height of that bin is equal to the number of data points below the minimum. The mathematical notation for the outer bin is: (-infinite, Min].
-
Max: Set the maximum by entering the numerical value of the maximum in the Max field. If the entered maximum is less than the default maximum, then the outer-most bin will change color to an alternate color. The height of that bin is equal to the number of data points above the maximum. The mathematical notation for the outer bin is: [Max, infinite).
-
Low Low: Set the minimum by entering the numerical value of the minimum in the Low Low field.
-
Low: Set Low by entering the value of the Low in the Low field.
-
High: Set High by entering the numerical value of the High in the High field.
-
High High: Set the maximum by entering the value of the maximum in the High High field.
-
Bins: Set the amount of bins by entering the number in the Bin field (the minimum is 1 and the maximum is 200)
-
Zoom in: left click and drag the area to zoom into from the top-left-hand corner to the bottom-right-hand corner.
-
Zoom out: left click and drag from the bottom-right-hand corner to the top-left-hand corner to zoom out.
-
Pan: Right-click and drag on the graph to move to the appropriate location.
NOTE: All data outside the Low Low and High High limits will be marked as bad quality. See limits for more information on this topic.
